Broomwood Football Club (BFC), a Charter Standard volunteer-run football club, is one of the largest amateur sporting clubs in the South of England. With almost 1000 members we support grassroots community football from Reception age to Seniors (U5 to U65). Our Girls section is one of the largest of any amateur football club in the country - and growing! As a volunteer-led club, parents & carers perform an active role in all aspects of the club, from coaching to child welfare, administration and first aid. We are an inclusive club with both competitive (League) & non-competitive options available for girls of all ages.
In particular BFC has been a large supporter of and participant in the Capital Girls League since 2016 when our first girls’ team - the Amazons, entered. We aim to add a new team to the League each year and over the seasons they have met with various levels of success. In the 2018/19 season our U12s Panthers won the U12 Division 2 of this League and were runners up in 2020/21 season whilst the BFC Albion won the U13 CGL trophy in 2020/21.
Girls can begin playing at BFC from as young as Reception age. At Yr 3 girls have the option of continuing to play mixed football, or they can opt to play in an all-girls setting. League participation begins in Yr 5 for those that wish to compete against other clubs. We are always seeking both new girls for our club, but also new female coaches to help grow & develop our Girls Section. The Club provides training & support to help all new joiners participate to the best of their ability - we look forward to hearing from you!
